IMU Basics for Type 5 Missions

This 2 hour session is designed for the Incident Commander that will be using the IMU to manage ELT (Type 5) missions where there are only a few air and/or ground sorties. The session will cover the basic operational steps and modules that are needed to effectively and safely conduct the mission.

The training will be a combination of Powerpoint slides, demonstrations, and actual inputs by the attendees on their computers.

In this session you will learn about:

• How the different network modes are used
• How to download and synchronize your database
• How to open a mission
• Normal check-in procedures
• Basic tasking generation
• Staff assignments and crew building
• CAPF-104 and CAPF-109 creation
• Sortie Monitoring
• Basic communications tools
• Debriefing tools
• CAPF-122 creation
• WMIRS and WMU upload

Prerequisites:

    1) The IMU must be installed on your workstation

    2) Your workstation must have internet access

    3) You should have a CAP Incident Commander achievement (any level - trainee is OK)

All training sessions are conducted using the web based tools from WebEx.com. This services provides interactive screen displays and uses an audio confernece dial-in for voice (the number used is probably long distance for most users and any charges are your responsibility). VOI calls may also be used. Since the WebEx service is not free, I am forced to make a small charge to users so that I can recover some of the fees that I have to pay.
